Well now, this is going to cause a huge ruckus. First Rue, now Hermione. Well played, Ms. Rowling. But you also missed a huge opportunity in not fully describing Hermione, the way you did Cho Chang and Kingsley Shacklebolt. On the other hand, as readers we shouldn’t be so quick to automatically code characters with oblique descriptions as default White. And writers need to stop being scared of the racial neanderthals (who probably don’t read anyway) and populate their stories with all KINDS of people, and NOT be afraid to fully describe them. #WeNeedMoreDiverseBooks and this is why.
