Opinion: Democrats try to reckon with Bill Clinton’s alleged sex crimes — and fail. The Washington Post
As much as I’ve excoriated Trump, Roy Moore, Republicans, and Evangelicals on the sexual harassment thing, this article kind of forced me to look back at the Bill Clinton/Monica Lewinsky/Juanita Broderick/etc saga from the 90s in a different way. After all, the accusations by numerous women against Clinton, and even against Hillary for the way she allegedly tried to silence and intimidate the accusers, are at least as credible as those against Trump or Moore. Liberals at the time, and even today, still seem to want to stick to excusing both the Clintons, or perhaps to partially excuse them while also saying they were partially wrong, but overall we are still refusing to admit what we should have admitted back then – Bill Clinton was almost certainly a serial sexual harasser/abuser, he should have admitted it, and then resigned from office. Plain and simple. That’s what we’re asking of Trump and Moore, so there is no excuse to not hold ourselves just as accountable for our own politicians.
I also have to wonder: did Bill ever truly reform, or are there more victims who may yet come forward in the current climate of #MeToo and abusers finally being held to account? If so, how will liberals (including Hillary) react if they do?
