It’s not uncommon for people without ADD/ADHD to really not understand what it’s like to have a brain that works so differently. And very often people think that it is truly a “disorder” as in “something is wrong with us. but in reality, ADD/ADHD can be a very mixed bag. Yes, there are many thing with which we struggle greatly….but we also possess strengths and gifts that – once channeled with behavioral modification and medications – give us amazing abilities.
Sure, the traits listed here are not exclusive to us – they are traits of humanity. But there are qualitative differences.
Yea, there are times that I truly wish I weren’t born like this. That my brain worked more “normally.” But that doesn’t last very long, because I’ve learned to treasure the gifts and abilities that come with it, and I wouldn’t be who I am without it.
