I have not read The President is Missing, co-written by Bill Clinton & James Patterson, but my wife’s book club chose it for this month. My wife decided, quite quickly I might add, that she did not enjoy it at all, so she skipped most of it except the beginning and end.
I wasn’t interested in even reading enough to find out why she didn’t like it, as I’ve never been a big fan of thrillers like it. Well, except for the earlier Tom Clancy novels, up through The Bear and the Dragon, but I was tired of the formula after that.
I was curious about the reviews of the Clinton/Patterson book, and I’m grateful that I looked. This review in The New Yorker is probably far better than the book, because the review is quite well-written. Most reviews say the book is not!
If you enjoy witty, humorous, sardonic, creative writing – don’t read the book. Just the review. 😁
