I don’t recall exactly when I realized that a belief in evolution automatically precluded the idea that Adam & Eve ever existed, but probably in high school or early college. Then I realized that meant there is no such thing as Original Sin, or even sin at all. It still took until my early 30s to then accept fully that the non-existence of sin, in the Christian context, meant that there was no meaning to the idea of salvation, but that was the breaking point for me. And that was when I finally accepted wholeheartedly that I am an atheist.
