Honestly, one of the best books I have ever read in its scope, details, etc.
Carroll does a superb job of explaining how our fundamental understanding of physics leads inexorably to the possibilities of life, and once life has arisen, how and why it’s the way it is. Then he addresses the elephant in the room, since his conclusion is that there is no need for a god of any kind, so how do we derive meaning and morality? He doesn’t claim to have “the” answers, but offers “Ten Considerations” instead of commandments.
