From a Christian pastor in North Carolina…..one of the rare times that I’m proud to share something from/about my state in recent years.
Yes, of course John McCain deserves the best health care, but it has nothing to do with his being a veteran, a Senator, someone famous, etc. At least, it shouldn’t. It’s because he’s a human being. But according to the GOP’s attempts at healthcare recently, anyone who doesn’t fit any of those categories (add in the category of “rich”), doesn’t deserve healthcare. At least, not affordable healthcare.
As he says, EVERYONE in America deserves quality healthcare equal to that which McCain will get. Because they’re all people. The value of a human being does not depend on their economic success, their net worth, their skin color, place of birth, or anything else.
Yes, of course that means that we’ll all have to help pay for it. Duh. It costs money to do that. But we already spend vast amounts on healthcare in the USA but still don’t have the rankings among nations to show for it. It’s about time we fixed that by fixing the weaknesses of the ACA, but that doesn’t include gutting it and leaving everyone to fend for themselves.
