Book Review of Bill Nye’s Evolution: The Science of Creation
So I’m not going to even finish all 3 of the books as intended this weekend, and obviously not finish all 3 book reviews, but I did finish one and will finish the second book tonight, and I did write one book review. Pretty good, all things considered for a long family weekend.
The quick summary of my review? If you have some doubts about Evolution and want a primer that covers all the basics, this is an excellent one. It hits all the major questions, pulls together threads from all of the different scientific disciplines that support it, covers a lot of evidence, and does so in a very understandable way, even if you don’t have a strong background in the sciences.
If you’re already well-versed in the underpinnings of evolution, the only reason to read this would be to help discuss and answer questions about it from doubters, or to refute many of the more nonsensical criticisms. Unfortunately, Nye doesn’t include a bibliography, footnotes, or any other references, which in my opinion is the biggest weakness.
