Arts Education is Important & Should be INCREASED, Not Cut
Thanks to Farinaz Parsay for sharing this excellent article from the Washington Post.
It’s been well-documented for a rather long time that arts education, particularly music performance, has significant benefits for brain development in children. That’s one reason both our daughters have taken (and our youngest is still taking) piano lessons. Learning to read and interpret music stimulates numerous regions of the brain, while performing builds confidence.
It’s a tragedy to have seen how much arts education has been cut in the US educational system, and I hope that trend reverses. Not just because it’s good for our children, but because the arts give our lives so much meaning.
