I have to admit, even I would struggle justifying a $1400 iPhone 10 (or X, or 8, or whatever they end up calling it.). $1000? Yeah, I would probably do that on a plan, but not all at once. One does have to wonder what kind of plan the carriers would require for such an expensive phone, though. It’s doubtful that the current plans that allow automatic annual upgrades can accommodate such prices, so they’d have to come up with something new.
As an Apple shareholder, though, I do see what the author is talking about; whether or not his points will hold true is yet to be seen, as is the feature set and actual cost. And yes, I do hope he’s right about the effect on Apple’s sales and share price, but I hope that the highest-end cost estimate is way off!
